Hello Members,
The NLL season is set to start the weekend of APRIL 9 to 11th 2021.
The League will be making the attached public announcement in an hour (12:05 pm ET) but we wanted all of you to know first. At 12:10 pm ET, the League will send a Greenfly request to all of you to support the announcement on social media. We encourage you to show your support.
We will be working in conjunction with the League and health authorities to ensure a safe environment. We will be working with you and the League to minimize the impact as best we can.
We are aware of the potential crossover with the other leagues (PLL/MLL). We plan to assemble a return to play committee of players who can help advise us on the impact the later start may have and to stimulate resolutions. Please let us know if you would like to be part of this committee.
Opt-Out Update
We had a conference call with the Executive Committee (Union officers and player reps) to discuss the Opt-Out date. The Committee had a number of questions and concerns regarding our 3 options:
- Do Not Opt Out;
- Opt Out; or
- Push the Opt-Out date a year.
We have addressed the Executive Committee’s concerns and we have sent a counter-proposal to the league. We are now waiting to hear from the league and we will update you once we do.
