Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is based upon and adheres to the ten privacy principles in the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. It governs the National Lacrosse League Players’ Association (NLLPA) and is posted at www.nllpa.com.

“Personal information” means information that identifies a particular individual, such as full name, street address, telephone number, birth date, financial information, or personal email address. When other information is associated with personal information, it is also personal information for purposes of this policy. In general, personal information does not include business contact information, such as name, title, business address, business telephone number, or business email address in a person’s capacity as an employee or representative of an organization.

We recommend that you read this policy in full and check back periodically, as it may change.

What information do we collect?

We may collect personal information when you register on our site, become or remain a member, place an order, enter a contest, send us an email, subscribe to a newsletter or text program, respond to a survey or poll, or fill out a form. Before or at the time of collection, we will identify why the information is needed and how it will be used. We collect, use, and disclose personal information only with knowledge and consent, except where otherwise required or permitted by law. We limit collection to what is necessary for the identified purposes. Any data that is not required will be marked voluntary. You may withdraw consent to our continued use and disclosure of your personal information by contacting us below, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you provide personal information of another individual, you represent that you have the authority or consents needed for us to collect, use, and disclose it for the purposes in this policy.

We may collect non-personal aggregate information from surveys and our website to understand user interests and manage our operations. Like most websites, we use cookies to operate the site, gather general visitor information, and track visits. Cookies do not contain personal or financial information. Only aggregated data is used for statistical analysis. You can disable cookies in your browser. Some parts of the site may not work the same way if you do so.

What do we use your information for?

Personal information is used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected, unless you have otherwise consented or the law requires or permits another use. Uses may include:

  • To personalize your experience and respond to individual needs.
  • To improve our website and services.
  • To respond to inquiries and support requests.

  • To administer a contest, promotion, survey, or other site feature.
  • To operate text-message programs, as described below.
  • For any other purpose for which we have your consent.

Third-party sites linked from our website have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for those sites.

We retain personal information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law.

Do we disclose personal information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. This does not include trusted service providers who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, provided they agree to keep the information confidential. We may also release information when we believe it is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our policies, or protect rights, property, or safety. NLLPA SMS Messaging Service Privacy Policy

The NLLPA respects your privacy. This section describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you opt into an NLLPA text-message program, including scheduling, benefits, collective bargaining and grievance updates, league and union notices, and similar operational messages. By subscribing, you agree to this section.

When you opt in, we may collect your mobile number, your name if you provide it, your communication preferences, opt-in and opt-out records, and message interactions such as STOP or HELP replies.

We use that information only to run the text program: to send the messages you agreed to receive, confirm and record consent, respond to inquiries, manage opt-in and opt-out, and meet carrier and legal record-keeping requirements.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except service providers who deliver the messages on our behalf, such as our messaging platform. Those providers may use the information only to provide that service and may not use it for their own marketing. We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or government regulation.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to cancel. You will receive a confirmation, and no further program messages will be sent unless you opt in again. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at the email, phone, or address above. Opting out of texts does not affect membership.

We keep opt-in, opt-out, and message records for as long as needed to operate the program and to show consent, then delete or de-identify them. We use reasonable safeguards. No transmission over mobile networks can be guaranteed fully secure.

We may update this section. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the text program after a change means you accept the updated section.
