January 31st, 2024 – New Regional Attorneys

Dear Members,

Please allow me to introduce a few of our newest NLLPA approved Regional Attorneys.

I have included a short note about each of our new Regional Attorney’s, but you can find info on all our Regional Attorney’s on the Player Association website: Regional Attorney Bios.

I have also included an excel document with the contact information for all of our current Regional Attorney’s.

Regional Attorneys

As many of you are aware, rather than engaging agents, the NLLPA opts for regional attorneys. Players have the choice to either utilize a regional attorney or represent themselves. We highly recommend the use of regional attorneys, as they can act as valuable intermediaries in negotiations, tackling difficult discussions with coaches and general managers and, ideally, helping you maintain positive working relationships.

Regional attorneys may charge up to 4% of the total contract value, but the typical rate is closer to 3%. To encourage the engagement of regional attorneys, the NLLPA has introduced a program covering the initial $200 of your first contract when you opt for representation. This makes seeking the advice of a regional attorney not only beneficial but also financially accessible. Whether it’s for negotiating your contract or simply seeking guidance, consider reaching out to a regional attorney to explore the support they can provide.

Adam Soliman

Adam works at Tyr LLP, a leading Canadian litigation firm. He represents professional athletes, executives, and companies in a diverse range of areas, including contract, arbitration, employment, intellectual property, and anti-doping. Adam’s work with athletes is focused on empowering them to make informed decisions. He has extensive experience negotiating agreements and has appeared before the Courts and arbitral panels in a number of jurisdictions within Canada and internationally.

Adriana Carnevale

Carnevale Law Office (CLO) is thrilled to be an NLLPA Regional Attorney. With its main office located in Whitby, Ontario, CLO is a business law firm with over 30 years of experience servicing the Greater Toronto Area.

CLO will work to empower you in your contract negotiations to ensure you receive compensation which is competitive and creative.  In this respect, as a team, we will work together to canvas possibilities that will not only advance the current contract negotiations but also expand and challenge the current norms in professional lacrosse.

As a professional lacrosse player, you have earned a spot on your team through extensive training and dedication to your coaches, teammates and the organization you are a part of.  This is your lacrosse family.  Therefore, negotiating a competitive contract in light of this camaraderie can often be uncomfortable.  Nevertheless, during contract negotiations you will often hear the phrase “It’s nothing personal, it’s just business” from the organizations.  As a result of this contrast (business vs. family), the business of sport can often feel challenging to navigate through, however, it does not have to be.

At CLO, our motto has always been “business is a contact sport” and we approach our negotiations with this reality in mind.  As business lawyers advocating on your behalf, we will aggressively address the business side of the game, while at all times preserving the integrity of your personal relationship with your team.

CLO will review and work with you on all aspects of the business of sport, including reviewing your short term and long term goals, and providing options for consideration so that a plan is in place for while you are playing the sport that you love and beyond.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcome any questions you may have.

Cason Liles

Cason is an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LP, where he is principally focused on representing private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in complex business transactions, including structuring and negotiating mergers & acquisitions, debt-financing, corporate restructurings, joint ventures and general corporate matters. Cason’s passion for player representation began when he worked at Katz Brothers Sports, a leading NFL player representation agency, where he subsequently became a licensed Athlete-Agent in the state of Florida and frequently represented NFL players in a vast array of marketing deals.

Cason grew up in Northern Virginia and played Division I lacrosse at SUNY Albany and then was an All-American Division III player at Sewanee: The University of the South. Following college, Cason earned his law degree and an MBA in finance from William & Mary. Cason brings a certain level of creativity and attention to detail that provides his clients with complete representation and support throughout their athletic career.

Cason currently resides in Austin, Texas and is a Texas State licensed attorney.

I look forward to the opportunity to represent players around the NLL and help them achieve their career goals within the league and set themselves up for a successful future in and out of the Box.

Thank you,
