February 3, 2021 – 2021 Season Canceled

Dear Members,

By now, I am sure most of you have heard the unfortunate news of our 2021 NLL Season being canceled.  We put a lot of time and effort into going through different scenarios with the league in an attempt to have some type of season.  We would like to thank all of you for participating in our surveys.  Additionally, we would like to thank all player representatives for their communication, support, and late nights providing feedback throughout this process.

Initial plans of a shortened travel season quickly shifted to planning for a bubble season in Ontario.  We went through many scenarios, but a number of challenges, including the new tightened travel restrictions in Canada, cause the league to pivot and focus on next year.  We have had a cordial relationship with the league throughout this process and we will continue to work together to make next season better than ever.

Please be advised the League has issued a temporary player transaction freeze effective immediately as a result of the 2020-21 season being canceled.

As such, all player transactions including trades, any contract signings and roster movement are not allowed.  This is being done to avoid any unintended consequences given this is unchartered waters headed into the 21-22 pre-season with rosters that are not at the usual 21 active number and that we will be having an expansion draft prior to the season.  We will be working with the League on the proper next steps for fair and equitable measures.

If you have any questions, we are available any time.

Thank you and stay safe,

Reid and Zach
